Ashgabat, August 26th. On August 26, 2009, Counterpart International implementing the Turkmenistan Community Empowerment Program (TCEP) funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) conducted the meeting on the youth vocational training issues. The participants including government officials, teachers, graduates of the vocational schools from four velayats, European Training Foundation’s representatives and the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrialists had the opportunity to discuss the TCEP’s achievements related to the youth vocational training promoting the youth economic activities in the rural areas.
The meeting also focused on the need and ways to cooperate between vocational establishments and employers in order to upgrade the level of training and update their curricula to meet the labor market demand.
Focusing on the significance of the discussed issues the participants emphasized that the youth vocational training is fully responding to the national priorities of training highly professional cadres of specialists for the dynamically developing national economy. The youth that has gained vocational skills will be a preferable workforce for the rural development.
The young people noted that high-quality training in demand-driven specialties was a guarantee of social and economic stability and confidence in the future.
The Turkmenistan Community Empowerment Program is one of the many assistance projects made possible by the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Since 1993, the American people through USAID have provided more than $80 million in programs that support Turkmenistan’s economic growth, social sector, and community initiatives.
